What is the difference between Replication and Duplication?
When we talk about CD/DVD Duplication we refer to the process of burning data onto a pre-manufactured CD or DVD using a laser drive. This is the same process as you would use to burn a CD or DVD in your laptop or PC at home. We will then print directly onto the face of the discs using the latest full colour digital or screen print techniques, in order to give your disc the perfect finish. Duplication is the cheapest way to produce lower quantities of units, and these can be turned around in a few days from approval of artwork. We even have a fast track 24hour service for urgent deadlines. The media we use is the best on the market, and we can often send you a printed proof for approval should you require it.
The Replication method is more cost effective on larger quantities. In this production process we create a glass master from your master disc. We then use this to create a stamper. The Stamper is loaded onto a replication line where disc copies are replicated by pressing the stamper into liquid polycarbonate which is injection molded to the shape of the CD/DVD. Once the discs are pressed, metalised, lacqured and UV cured, they will be either Screen or Litho printed with your design. We can typically replicate quantities of 500 units upwards.
